Make Your Small Bathroom Seem Much Bigger!

When you're dealing with a relatively small-sized bathroom, you have to do everything possible to maximize usage of that space, and you have to get really creative with your limited decorating. Here are some tips for maximizing usage of your small bathroom and making it seem much larger than it really is.
Match your patterns well
There aren't really any restrictions on what you can do with patterns in your bathroom, even when you're dealing with a relatively small-sized room. However, if you have selected a really intricate tile, or something that's very eye-catching, it's best to keep your walls simple so as to offset the detail of your tiles. If you've already got a fairly detailed wallpaper in place, it would be a good idea to keep the floor pattern relatively basic, and to limit any decorations on the walls to simple items as well.
Trick of flooring
Many bathrooms require people to step up from the bathroom floor to the shower flooring. Through a simple remodeling trick, you can make the bathroom seem larger. By having the shower flooring at the same level as the bathroom flooring, there will be nothing to interrupt the eye as it looks from one to the other, so it will make the room appear larger.
Store things efficiently
You can store all the necessary items in your bathroom quite efficiently and still keep them close at hand, if you can install an organizer or possibly a few shelves, where important things can be kept. If you just don't have the room to store some of the larger items, they can be kept on shelving outside the bathroom, where they're still within reach.
Install bright lighting
If you don't already have really good lighting in your bathroom, you should make a point of having it installed. The bathroom is usually the place where most members of your family will check their appearance each day before going off to work or school. A well-lit bathroom also seems much more inviting and it seems larger as well. A poorly lit bathroom on the other hand, will always seem smaller, and will not be nearly as cheery or warm.
How about a ledge?
Installing a ledge just beneath your bathroom mirror and above the sink, can create a world of space for things like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, skin cream, mouthwash, and a whole host of other bathroom necessaries. This can quickly de-clutter your sink area, and provide a central location for all those commonly used items during grooming.

Floating space
This is another visual kind of trick which the eye falls prey to most of the time. You can give the appearance of having more space available in your bathroom by implementing a floating vanity for instance. The area around the sink will feel much larger than it did before, even though you have exactly the same functional area that you had before. Anytime you can create more space by opening up areas on the wall or on the floor, it will help to make your bathroom seem larger than its actual dimensions.
